Beach babies!

We got lots of beach time in on this trip!  We loved staying right on the beach, and Wild Dunes was pretty empty so there were times when we were the only ones on the whole beach.  We're very lucky to have two beach babies. Both Luke and Cate LOVED the beach and the ocean.  Neither mind being covered in sand or getting splashed in the face with saltwater.  Cate was always covered head to toe in sand.  It was in her mouth, all around her eyes, in her ears and she never once got upset about it.  And we decided that the beach was the most perfect place for these to be.  We had originally thought it wouldn't be relaxing to have two little ones at the beach, but honestly, they were both so entertained by playing in the sand  that they stayed completely busy and Cory and I could actually sit and relax!  It was amazing!  And on the beach there's little mischief for either one of them to get into.  Just sand for miles and miles!  Other than making sure they didn't go into the ocean without us, we had the most relaxing time on the beach!
I have a ton of pictures!
Cate never really gets mad, but holding her down for sunscreen made her SOOOO mad.  It was pretty hilarious because she's usually so content.
All done with the sunscreen and back to smiling--but still mad about it!  :)
Cate's first moments on the beach!
 And loving it!
She dug her face right into the sand and tried to eat it.  And surprisingly, she did that everyday.
And of course Lukie loved everything--the beach, the ocean, everything.
 Digging for crabs...

Cory even had Luke out in the ocean riding waves on the boogie board!

This is pretty much the view we had of Cate all week--the back of her heading straight for the water! She would crawl head first into a crashing wave and giggle the whole time.

Halfway through the week, Luke got really sick.  At first it was just a virus of some kind, but the last day he was pretty pitiful.  We had no idea what it was until we got home and took him to the doctor.  Found out poor thing had pneumonia!  What in the world.  We felt horrible for him.
This was our last full day in Charleston.  Luke didn't feel great so he sat in the chair with his sweatshirt on and hat pulled over his face.  Because of a hurricane that was way out at sea, it was SUPER windy in Charleston.  Luke was not a fan of the wind.  So that's one of the reasons he's so bundled up here.
Cory loves building sandcastles.  Even before we had kids, he would always build a sandcastle on the beach.  He probably had a much easier time building one back then, because this year he had two little helpers.  And one of those helpers found great joy in destroying Daddy's castle!

Can't thing of much cuter things than a chunky baby in a bathing suit!

After awhile, Luke finally took that sweatshirt off!  And really started playing again!

 My sweet sweet boy

 Almost finished with the castle!
Complete with a moat, bridge, and Elmo standing guard at the top!

We also had lots of fun in the condo's pool!

We made some great memories and had lots of fun!  Even though Lukie got sick, he still talks about how much fun he had on the beach and how he can't wait to go back.  I'm so glad!
