Cate at 16 months:
This post is super late because we were in Texas for Christmas, and then Cate and I both got the flu when we got home. Hasn't been a fun week around our house. Thankfully, we're both on the mend and feeling much better!
I just went back and read what Luke was doing at 16 months, and it amazes me how different the two of them are. Even at 16 months, their personalities were/are showing and we get glimpses of the children they will become. Luke was already very mischievous at 16 months which is exactly how we describe him today. Funny. And another big difference besides their personalities is that Luke already seemed like such a big boy at 16 months while Cate still seems like our little baby. I know it's because she's not walking yet, but she just seems so little!
More about Cate at 16 months!
~Cate is still the happiest baby. She smiles and laughs constantly. One of the funniest things she does is that she randomly just busts out laughing, more like a cackle, at the most random times. One second she'll be playing with something, the next second she's laughing hysterically! Sometimes we have no idea what she thinks is so funny! Everyone always stops and laughs with her because it really is so funny! She does have one of the best laughs I've ever heard!
~She loves music and dancing. If she hears music, she stops and dances--bounces, really. Very very cute.
~Cate LOVES the camera. She's such a poser/cheeser. If we pull out the camera, she says "Cheeeese" and smiles SO big.
~She's not packing on the pounds like she was. I think she's leveled off. She's still about 25 pounds, but she's only gained a pound or two since her birthday. She still wears most of her 12 month clothes and some 18 month clothes. The great thing about girls is that her dresses just become shirts as she gets bigger!
~Like I said earlier, she's still not walking. Oh how I wish she was because my back is not loving picking her up all day. But she's just too scared to take any steps independently. She may take after me and me being a scaredy-cat. We got her a stroller for her dolls for Christmas, and she walks behind that thing all day. And she's standing up on her own more (so she can dance!), but she just won't take any unassisted steps. I feel it's coming in the next month though.
~She's saying a few more words this month. Some of her words are mommy, daddy, dog, cheese, nana for banana, shoe, bow (like a hairbow), baby, hi, hey, and bye. I love that she knows shoe and bow. Such a little girl! Daddy is probably still the word that she says the most. I've been trying to figure out if she has a word for Luke, but I don't think she does. Sometimes she'll call him "ba" but that doesn't really make sense unless she's trying to say brother maybe?
~Cate gives the sweetest kisses and hugs. They're my favorite. She's not a snuggler and never has been so we love it when we can get a kiss from her.
~She's finally sleeping through the night! She'll get up every now and then. But thankfully she loves her bed and goes down easily for her naps and at bedtime. She takes one long nap during the day, and if we're in the car in the morning, she'll usually take a catnap.
~Her favorite toys are her new baby dolls that she got for Christmas. She loves feeding them and putting them in the doll bed. And she loves strolling them around in the doll stroller. She's such a good little mommy already!
~She doesn't love animals that much. Maybe it's because every dog she's around tries to lick her face, and she REALLY hates that. But she was around a lot of big dogs in Texas, and she tolerated them, but she doesn't love them like Luke does. She's not afraid, just annoyed by them. So different than Luke who loves every animal on earth.
~Cate loves meeting people and says hi and bye to everyone. She wave at anyone who will look at her!
We are so blessed to have our sweet Cate, and we can't help but smile every time we look at her. She's a blessing in every way!
