Sick...

Cate has had a very rough week.  What started out as a cold turned into much more.  She's had a cold since last week-just lots of snot and some coughing.  Well, then she started to get some goop in one eye which we thought was allergies or a blocked tear duct or something, but her eye never got red so we didn't think anything of it.  Then Thursday she woke up with a high fever that lasted 24 hours and then went away.  We were so confused about what was wrong with her so I took her to the dr on Friday.  She ended up having an ear infection and an eye infection.  The dr said that when she was rubbing her nose she probably rubbed the snot into her eye which caused the infection, and that everything just moved to her ears.  So we got loaded up with eye drops, antibiotics, and probiotics.  Then almost as soon as we left the dr, I noticed little red bumps appearing on her head.  By the next morning, poor Cate had red rash bumps all over her head and trunk.  It looked awful.  I was pretty sure I knew what it was, but wanted to go back to the dr to make sure.  And our dr confirmed she had roseola--high fever followed by a rash.  No clue where she picked that up!  But Luke had it after he turned one, and we had to take him to the ER because his temp reached 105.4!  So glad her's wasn't that high!  Thankfully, the rash is gone and so is her goopy eye.  And the dr said yesterday that it looked like her ear infection was gone too!  She was definitely acting like her happy self again so hopefully we'll stay well for awhile!

Here are two pics I took of Cate's rash.  Not sure if you can really see them, but believe me, it looked horrible.  Thankfully, the dr said that the rash doesn't itch or bother them.

And the good news about roseola is that children can only get it once!  So we will never have to deal with this again!
